1. Because Gosnald died, and Kendall was deposed.

2. Captain Kendall wanted to change the course and Smith had forbid it.

3. He was hunting birds when he was surrounded by “200 savages” and was brought to Werowocomoco to be murdered.

4. He is going to be killed but Pocahontas saves him

8. Smith over-exaggerated and twisted the works, and used the third person point of view to boast himself.

Daily life in Jamestown – I think he may have been semi-honest about this, but I honestly don’t believe he had as much control over the town as he implied.

Native American culture – He referred to the natives as savages, so that shows he doesn’t think much of them. But even so, it would be more of an observation of the group, and I think he would be able to write about it without twisting it too much because it doesn’t have a lot to do with him.

Smith’s own actions – smith has an ego the size of Neptune, so he felt the need to make himself look like a hero in A General History of Virginia. He was not particularly honest in all of his writings, thus causing me to doubt his credibility.

Conflicts in Jamestown – John Smith was never the bad guy in his recount of the conflicts, so he would not be particularly reliant.
